Cinematic Publishing, Part 1: Launching Books Like Films

Mirela Vahdani initially wrote Golden Force as a film trilogy. “The story came to me in images. Then life changed the plan, and the three films became three novels,” Mirela explains. Goldacht published the first one, Golden Force: The Source, in English, German and Spanish in February 2026.

“But at heart I am a filmmaker and I didn’t want to choose between the two worlds I love: books and films. Therefore I launched my book like a film,” says Mirela.

That is what we now at Goldacht call cinematic publishing.

Cinematic publishing is the practice of promoting a book the way a film is promoted: as a story world with its own identity beyond the pages, carried by images, video and experiences.

The cover and blurb are no longer enough. We live in a visual one, shaped by streaming platforms, by social media and by video, where people decide within seconds whether a story is worth their time. Readers choose books the way they choose films and series, by the feeling a world gives them before they commit to it.

Readers want more. They want to step into stories.

What it looked like for Golden Force
Before the book was available, we released a teaser built only from the symbols of Golden Force, dramatic music and the trilogy’s tagline in three languages: hope, power and the shadows within us. A week later came the trailer, and with it the landing page and the book itself.

The launch didn’t start with a product. It started with a world, and the book was the doorway into it.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll share what cinematic publishing means in practice, from what turns a book into a brand and why most book trailers fail, to how a fictional company can step into real life. Every principle will come with a real example from our own catalogue at Goldacht.

Books and film are moving even closer together, and both are pulling readers in. I believe the books that thrive in the years ahead will be the ones that are not only read, but seen.
If you’re an author or publisher thinking about how your next book could be launched like a film, we’d love to hear from you. Contact us on hello@goldacht.com or find out here more about our book trailers.
